Fall 2007 Grant Awards
The Zionsville Education Foundation (ZEF) is pleased to announce the fall 2007 Grant Recipients:
1) Reading Across the Curriculum. (Union Elementary) $600 Ms. Lynne Munley.
Funding will provide all second grade classrooms with integrated reading material.
2) Making Literacy Connections. (Union Elementary) $1,098.56 Ms. Ruth Ann Townsend and Ms. Susie Cash. Funding will provide literacy stations for first grade students.
3) Free Voluntary Reading in a German Classroom. (Zionsville West Middle School) $517 Ms. Fran Reigle. Funding will provide German books to be read during students’ free time.
4) Touch Math Literacy Library at Stonegate Elementary. (Stonegate Elementary) $3,249 Ms. Emily Duhn and Ms. Abby Fox. Funding will provide 56 math kits, workbooks and teaching aids for all grades at Stonegate Elementary.
5) Making “Bones” about Forensics. (Zionsville Community High School) $1,492.48 Ms. Cynthia King. Funding will provide a set of skeletal models for the ZCHS science department.
6) Grammar and Vocabulary Videos: Reinforcement for the Spanish Classroom. (Zionsville Community High School) $599.30 Ms. Laura Haehl and Ms. Katie Graham. Funding will provide short Spanish grammar and vocabulary videos for the ZCHS library.
7) Discipline, Respect and Unity Through Music (DRUM). (Pleasant View Elementary) $2,563.00 Ms. Rebecca Hampton. Funding will provide 24 pre-tuned tubano drums for music students at Pleasant View.
8) Photography: Using Truisms to Create a Point of View. (Zionsville Middle School) $887.30 Ms. Jennifer Bond. Funding will provide disposable cameras and supplies for the Photography unit for 8th Grade art students. This grant is funded by the generosity of the Zionsville Arts Initiative.
9) Problem Solving Made Fun. (Union Elementary) $641.14 Ms. Vicky Tuder and Mrs. Delora Douglas. Funding will provide math pentathlon games for Union Elementary.
10) From Creatures to Continents and Cultures. (Pleasant View Elementary) $2,892.59 Mrs. Deb Krupowicz. Funding will provide supplemental texts to the 3rd grade Specialties Unit.
11) Virtual Connections. (Zionsville Community High School) $1,859.00 Mrs. Janet Selby and Ms. Karen Jones. Funding will provide a Dukane Projector System for the World Languages Department at Zionsville Community High School.
12) Art Vending. (Zionsville Community High School) $642 Ms. Mandy Jared. Funding will provide an art vending machine for miniature works by the Zionsville Community High School Art Club. This grant is funded by the generosity of the Zionsville Arts Initiative.
13) Connecting Via Web Cam in the Second Grade. (Pleasant View Elementary) $1000.00 Ms. Tonya Donnelly. Funding will provide 7 web cams that will allow second grade students to video conference with students in 6 different states.
14) The Eagle’s Nest Art Gallery. (Eagle Elementary) $1,000.00 Ms. Eileen Urbanski. Funding will provide 20 frames and mats to establish an art gallery in Eagle Elementary.
ZEF is honored to give $19,041.37 to the Zionsville Community Schools this fall. These funds are raised through two ZEF fundraisers, Oktoberfest and the "In Style" Fashion show, as well as private and corporate donations. The Zionsville Arts Initiative gave a generous donation of $1500 to fund grants in the arts.
