ZMS - Art Redefining Disability: Artist in Residence |
The Zionsville Middle School art educators team of Jen Gibson and Jill Phipps received a recent Fall 2025 Classroom Grant for their project “Art Redefining Disability: Artist in Residence.” This partnership with ZMS art educators and the Indianapolis nonprofit ArtMix artist residency program engages life skills and functional academic students with hands-on art experiences.
ZMS is excited to share this opportunity with the ZWEST adaptive students and staff. They will join ZMS for two lessons this spring to create a collaborative artwork that will be displayed at each school. PLUS there will be a celebration of these students and their accomplishments with an Art Show at The Sullivan Munce Art Center, with an opening reception on Friday, May 1st from 5-7pm.
“Our ZMS adaptive art students have already benefited in so many ways from the ZEF grant, art REDEFINING disability. ArtMix has positively impacted our students by creating an inclusive, supportive environment where every student’s creativity is valued and celebrated. Through the guidance of a professional artist, students of all abilities have additional access to meaningful, hands-on art experiences that honor their individual strengths and provide opportunities for authentic self-expression.” - Jen Gibson & Jill Phipps, ZMS Art Educators
We love seeing this ZEF Grant in Action at Zionsville Middle School and look forward to sharing more Grants in Action across our district in 2026. |
